Jon's interest in history and curious objects compels him to create with almost any material available. Since early 2007, discarded scraps of wood, metal, furniture, and other ephemera have been paired with his sculpted, drawn, or painted work, taking the form of a new unified sculpture. The interaction of these repurposed materials guides Jon's art making process: building up and breaking down, discovering layers and creating context. The often juxtaposed elements begin to write a new story along the way until a tale of beautiful, broken artifacts emerges.
